So after years of eluding the folks at the armouries, Corporal Szpack finally found my new number and calmly explained to me the importance of bringing back the infantry gear I had stashed away in my basement. So I grabbed mother dear and headed off to 100 King St. to drop it off.
I don't know how many of you are aware, but I used to be in the Canadian Infantry as a reserve soldier. Regiment: Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada. Otherwise known as the 'pants down regiment of Canada'. (this explanation was kindly bestowed upon me by Seargant Murray after he saw my ripped up pants after a rather amusing field exercise incident)
But yes, down we went to the ghettoeness that is Downtown Hamilton. It's funny just how many Nostalgic hits I get these days. I got it when I walked back into the armouries, a place I hadn't been for more than 2 years. The mile high ceiling, the shine-o-ballo like sparkling floor, the cool chill and the terrifying sight of ranked men in green. The return was fairly uneventful as I just dumped the stuff and marched (pun not intended) over to Jackson square to catch up with mother. We bought some exotics (those biscuit sticks dipped in chocolate and leeche juice) from the chinese supermarket and headed home.
Why does this all matter? Because a day will come where I will expand on the summer of 2000 and what went down in the making of a Pt. Ali and I want you to look forward to it. The night runs, the women, the booz, the porn and the emergence of the potty mouth.
What's on my desk right now:
A bottle of calorie-free 2L bottle of 7up that I have been chugging exclusively for two days by myself. Now that's luxury.
