I don't like the idea of one having to justify what kind of Music one listens to.

Often times, I get the "I'm so embarassed to listen to this/I'm such a geek for listening to this/No one can know I listen to to this" remark. To hell. Since when is the kind of music you listen to the shortest route to your persona? Are you that insecure that you get nervous and twitchy at thought of people finding out that you're an avid Frank Sinatra fan or if you happen to enjoy Melodic Trance?

Music is entertainment. (It's art too, but that's irrelevant here)

It's not your personal credo. It's what you do for fun and sometimes for encouragement.

There's no need to get defensive. The one thing that you could possibly get defensive about is if someone starts bashing a genre and deems it [insert derogatory adjective] because of its nature. Like say, bashing Rock and deeming everyone who listens to it a devil worshipper just because it irks you.

To sum up, next time someone asks you what you listen to, with pride say that you love Disco Filtered House and enjoy an inkling of Ghulam Ali Ghazals. Without the need to justify.

oh, and I spent the last hour browsing this: Funnier than Arif Patel
