Sad Irony.
I remember seeing as a child the images of the classical two-faced villian. Happy and smiling on one side, evil and miserable on the other. I cannot help but to think these days that what a fool I was. One side clearly apparent in its intention, the other, under a squeky clean disguise. Both sides, in a sad epiphany I now realize, were always attached to the same body.
'The torture chambers' we were shown on TV. The tyrannical rule of Osadama bin Hussein had come to an end. Rejoice, we were supposed to believe, for the forces of evil had been obliterated, the smell of freedom abound. Much time has passed, and I am more familiar now with the the stench of stolen dignity. Abu Ghraib. It is indeed ironic, in the worst way possible, that the very place the 'tyrant' used for torture, the 'liberators' now use for the same. Dumb luck would have it, Osadama always forgot to bring batteries for his digital camera.
